Farkas et al. (1999) found that current smokers were more likely to smoke fewer cigarettes if they lived or worked in a tobacco free environment.
Their study revealed that attempts at cessation were more likely for those who had a smoking ban at home or at work. Further, that those seeking smoking cessation while under a home or work ban had an increased likelihood of a successful quit attempt than those without smoking bans.
